Open the phone app and dial this code. If the screen that appears shows an EID (a 32-digit number), your phone supports eSIM.

An EID appearsYour phone has eSIM hardware. Also make sure it is carrier-unlocked before you buy.
No EID appearsYour phone most likely does not support eSIM, and an eSIM cannot be installed on it.

Prefer the settings menu?

  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular (Mobile Service) → Add eSIM. If the option exists, the phone supports eSIM.
  • Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add eSIM (wording varies by maker).

Also worth checking

  • The phone must be carrier-unlocked — a locked phone rejects other profiles.
  • Keep the operating system updated; old versions have eSIM bugs.
  • You need Wi-Fi or another connection at install time to download the profile.
